[rubs temples] delusions does not mean a pipe-dream or you wishing for something to be true, it is very bad that people are using it to mean that way. delusions refer to a very specific mental health symptom that is … actually pretty intense to fucking deal with. you all can’t handle being in the vicinity of a psychotic person without calling the cops on them but now you want our language to appropriate? get fucked, man.
Just so we are clear:
A delusion is when you have a firm belief in something that is not reality and you cannot stop believing that thing despite firm evidence to contradict it.
Some common examples are:
- Believing you are being persecuted in some way despite no evidence of persecution and lots of evidence that you are not being persecuted.
- Believing you have some ability or authority that you do not have (for instance believing that you are a God), despite evidence that you are a human without the ability or authority.
- Believing that you are dead, despite all evidence that you are alive.
- Believing that people you care about have been replaced by imposters, despite all evidence that they are the same people you have known for years.
- Believing that someone is in love with you, despite all evidence that the person is not in love with you and may not even know you.
These are just a few examples, of course, but it’s a psychological issue that people deal with. It’s very specific. It’s not just “wishful thinking” or whatever.

Frank Iero is so funny… he’s legitimately a good looking and delicately featured dude but because of who he spends his time working with you literally don’t notice it until he’s around like a group of regular degular adult men. This is why LS Dunes is funny because he fits right in…that’s a group of men with very symmetrical faces and beautiful eyes. And then around Gerard (unique and gorgeous songstress) he’s demoted to Some Guy. But he’s not some guy!!
